HISTORY OF SINGING WATERS

Singing Waters Ministries  traces its history back to 1956.  Kay Golbeck, a woman of great faith, responded to a vision that she believed God had given her one day as she read her Bible.  This vision, seemingly imposed upon its pages, was of a lovely old brick farmhouse surrounded by pines and spruce trees.  It would not leave her.  The next day when she opened her Bible the picture was still there.  As she continued to pray and seek God about this vision, its meaning became clear.  In spite of the fact that she was suffering from a terminal illness, she was to find this place, buy it and God would set up a ministry in that place - a ministry to people of all nationalities and ages, the sick and the well, the poor and the rich, the lonely and the lost.  This "'House of Blessing" to others had long been a dream dear to her own heart, but was one that seemed impossible.

But God is the God of the impossible!  It wasn't long before a real estate friend showed her a property in the Hockley Hills near Orangeville.  When she approached the property she saw the very house and trees God had shown her in the vision.  As she took the first step onto the property she heard a sound - a lovely melody coming through the trees - it was the sound of the river rushing over the rocks in the valley.  Searching for the right word she exclaimed, "Water... singing waters... Singing Waters!  If I buy this place, if this is to be God's House of Blessing, it shall be called Singing Waters.  And I shall pray that all who come here shall leave with a song in their hearts."

Her willingness to follow this vision  is a story of awe-inspiring faith in the miraculous provision of a God whose Word never fails, in spite of plenty of opportunity for her to doubt.  She had no money, and was even now living out of two suitcases without a place to call her own.  He reminded her again and again that it was His work, and He would, therefore, see to it that whatever was necessary for the Ministry would be there in due time.  Mark 10:27 became their motto: "With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God."

For the next 27 years, from the time of the revelation of the vision in the mid-fifties to her death in 1983, Kay Golbeck and her team worked side by side with God.  His hand was evident throughout those years in everything from finding and restoring the old farmhouse, through the expansion of the buildings in 1983, appropriately named the House of Praise, to the various aspects of finding suitable staffing for the growing Ministry.  In Kay's own words that she had prepared for her memorial service, she challenged those who now carried the responsibility that God had given her so many years before:  "It's been an exciting, marvelous adventure here, and the glorious part is that it will continue.  We've only touched the fringe of what a partnership with God can mean."

Singing Waters truly became the House of Blessing - the dream God had put into Kay's heart as well as those who followed after her, became reality.  It became a place of faith where Mark 10:27 is a daily reality; a place of rest and restoration for spiritual renewal and encouragement through prayer, study, inspiration and fellowship; a place of worship and intercession set apart for the glory of God; a place of healing for God's children to discover their true identity and destiny; a place of freedom for all to be able to express themselves; a place of equipping the people of God for the healing of the nations; a place of blessing where the children of God can find their true inheritance in Christ; a place of releasing people to use and develop their anointing and spiritual giftings.

Part of this blessing has been the relationships  with other healing streams in the Body of Christ.  In the early 1990's, Elijah House was one of these that made a valuable contribution to the Ministry's understanding of inner healing.  This was followed by the message of evangelism, healing and deliverance through an association with Ellel Ministries of England, who also had a heart for the broken and wounded of the world.  God has used these relationships to enrich the life of the Ministry.

With the new millennium came a new season!   The House of Blessing was becoming a River of Blessing as part of God's plan for the healing of the nations.  We give glory to God for His faithfulness, knowing that He Who began a good work will see it to completion, because what is impossible with man is possible with God.
