HEALING ENCOUNTERS

"… And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations."
Revelation 22:2

“God really met me.
I feel like I have a new mindset, and definitely a new belief system.
My church knows it, my staff knows it, and more importantly,
my wife and children know it.  I am at last fighting the battle
from the winning side instead of from the losing side.
There is so much God has done.
Thanks for everything.”

What is a Healing Encounter?

Ministry Encounters are an opportunity for a small number of people, each with their own need, to share in times of praise, worship, teaching and prayer ministry.  Some retreats are held from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon and others are from Tuesday evening until Thursday afternoon. Some are specifically for church leaders.

The Retreats follow the scriptural pattern established by Jesus in His own ministry.  Those who attend will have an opportunity to learn the principles of Christian healing as well as the opportunity to receive personal ministry from our trained Ministry Team.  Singing Waters provides a safe and loving environment for those who are seeking help that is led by the Holy Spirit.

What is the teaching content?

During the Retreat, key biblical principles are shared that relate to receiving healing for spirit, soul and body.  Topics covered include acceptance and forgiveness, the work of the Holy Spirit in healing, the restoration process, the place of spiritual warfare and the importance of making godly choices.

What will the times of prayer involve?

Personal prayer ministry will often include working through areas of forgiveness, repentance and inviting Jesus to be Lord.  It can also include recognizing any work of the enemy in our lives and overcoming it through the power of the cross of Jesus. This may mean overcoming struggles with sin and removing any blockages to a greater intimacy with God.

Who are the Ministry Team?

Those who minister with Singing Waters Ministries are carefully trained and evaluated over a period of time prior to being released to minister under the supervision of the Ministry Manager.  Some are pastors or church leaders, or have accreditation with other Christian organizations; all are mature Christians with a heart to apply the principles of the Kingdom of God in bringing healing and restoration to those in need.

The Ministry Teams work in pairs (or occasionally as a team of three).  At least one member of the Ministry Team will be the same gender as the person receiving ministry.

Is it confidential?

Yes.  Anything that is confided to us, either written or spoken out in the course of prayer ministry, will be kept in strictest confidence.  We will not release details of notes or ministry to anyone without written permission to do so.

What are the results?

God works in different ways with different people.  Most people can give an immediate testimony to significant changes.  Many others tell us that improvements were progressive and continued over months or even years after their encounter.  For some, deep levels of pain may be touched for the first time.  Advice and encouragement will be offered on the way forward.  There are many profound testimonies to deeper intimacy with Jesus and healing that God has done in His people.

Who can attend?

Singing Waters Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry that welcomes Christians who are 18 years of age or older and who are willing to receive prayer ministry, as modelled by Christ Himself.

Do people come on their own?

Most people attend an Encounter on their own.  When appropriate, a church pastoral worker, spouse or friend may be invited in a caring and supportive role.  Requests for a caregiver to attend will be considered on the basis of the particular applicant's situation.  If a caregiver is invited, they would not participate in the ministry sessions or be offered ministry at that time.  They will also be expected to pay the full cost of $100 for meals and accommodation.

What will it cost?

The Ministry never charges people when they attend a Ministry Retreat or for a personal ministry appointment, so as not to hinder anyone from receiving help.  There are, however, costs involved in running a Healing Encounter and the Singing Waters' Centre.  At each Retreat there is an opportunity provided for people to make a donation towards the Ministry.  As a guideline, the current cost of a Healing Encounter is $189 per person.  We recognize that some are more able to meet or contribute towards these costs than others.

The rest of the financial support comes from the free-will giving of those who share the vision of the Ministry.  Some give out of gratitude to God for what He has done for them through a Healing Encounter or Training Course.  Others give because they long to see the Church doing what Jesus told us to do.  They see Singing Waters Ministries as one means of fulfilling this commission and encouraging local churches in the area of Christian healing.

How do I apply?

1.  Initially, we ask that all those who wish to attend a Healing Encounter personally apply in writing.  In a one-page letter, we ask that they share with us something of their experience of accepting Jesus and their Christian journey, as well as what they understand to be their particular needs for ministry.

2. When this letter is received it is prayerfully considered to determine the most appropriate ministry to be offered.  If it is felt that some other help would be more appropriate, then this possibility would be discussed.

3. If a Healing Encounter is recommended, a confidential Application Form is sent to the applicant.  It is essential that the Application Form be completed by the applicant and returned.

4. In due course the applicant is offered a place on a Healing Encounter.  The waiting list for placement varies according to the current number of applicants.  All applications are processed as quickly as possible.  In the event of a genuine emergency, it is sometimes possible to offer cancellations to applicants.  The applicant's pastor or another professional would normally make such requests.
