FROM THE HEART OF DONNA

Donna Parachin"What is impossible with man is possible with God. Nothing is impossible with God!" ~ Mark 10:27

As I reflect upon the words of this scripture, I am impacted again and again by the truth they express. Fifty years ago this year, these words would ring through the heart of a little missionary woman struggling for life as she battled a terminal illness. Having repeatedly seen the vision of a little red brick house on the pages of her bible, she would begin to share God’s heart for the House of Blessing He was wanting to establish. With complete trust in God in the midst of what seemed totally impossible, Kay Goldbeck would embrace the truth of what is impossible with man is possible with God. The little red brick house, the House of Blessing, would become a reality and Singing Waters was born.

For 27 years, by faith, Kay Goldbeck would lead the ministry, welcoming those who were in need of rest, healing and restoration.
Kay’s constant prayer was that whoever would come to Singing Waters would leave with a song of rejoicing in their heart.

Over the years, Singing Waters has become the place of God’s indwelling presence. It is a place of worship, a place of healing, a place of refuge, a place of safety, a place of transformation, a place of joy, a place of equipping, a place of anointing, a place of creativity and a place of love.

If there were one word to describe 50 years at Singing Waters, it would be faithfulness. God has been relentlessly faithful!

Today, by faith we continue to embrace the words of Mark 10:27, “What is impossible with man is possible with God. Nothing is impossible with God!” Deeply engrained into the heart of Singing Waters are the words of John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He will give it to you.”

This is the year of Jubilee – 50 years! We will celebrate all that God has accomplished. We will celebrate His faithfulness, His goodness, His kindness, His every provision. We will celebrate freedom, for it was for freedom that Christ has set us free, to be part of His great community of love.

More than anything, we will celebrate our God and all that this year will hold. Several events have been planned throughout the year to celebrate. Come and join us and celebrate freedom. You won’t want to miss a thing!Donna

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Since September 2005 Singing Waters has been receiving suggested names for its new newsletter. The names have been inspired, imaginative and appropriate. It was a very hard task to choose one name out of so many great submissions. Thank you for your participation. It was clear that thought and consideration was given to the names suggested.

After weeks of review, prayer and struggle the name, The Ripple Effect was chosen. Why this name? We felt it described the results we hope the newsletter will achieve. Here is the meaning of Ripple Effect: the continuous and spreading results or consequences of an event or action. We want to thank Janna Anderson for your thoughtful entry.

Thank you for your thoughtful participation. We look forward to more of your comments and input. We'd like to open a Reader's Response section and would appreciate your response to articles or events at Singing Waters. Bless you!

“Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” Ephesians 2:20-22
Hidden in divine obscurity, NAIOTH (1Samuel 19:18-24) could be regarded as one of the most anointed places in scripture. Literally NAIOTH means dwelling place, at it was here in a district of Ramah, that the prophet Samuel decided to set apart a piece of land to be a retreat and training centre which would seek to foster the tangible, transforming presence of God.

Being pursued by an evil king, it was to this place that David fled to find refuge, refreshing, renewal, healing, wisdom and counsel. Here he found God’s overwhelming presence, a place where an intimate, united community, shaped with a worship and prophetic edge (1 Samuel 10:5-11), exercised an unstoppable anointing and authority under the leadership and training of Samuel. It was this anointing of God’s presence that rendered the enemy powerless and caused the vilest offender to proclaim the glory of God.

Is such a place a myth? No! The reality of NAIOTH and it’s far reaching anointing is being re-ignited in our hearts today. 50 years ago, God set apart a glorious piece of land called Singing Waters, to be devoted for his purpose and to be a dwelling place for his presence. Through these years, many saints have sacrificially laboured, wept, interceded, and battled to establish a sanctuary where the Spirit of the Lord could move freely and in power. In our Jubilee year God is sounding the trumpet to create this tabernacle of prophetic worship, intercession and truth; a resting place for Him. For where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Join us in this amazing year of breakthrough, transformation and anointing! It’s time celebrate freedom!

NAIOTH was a place of:

HEALING OF THE HEART
Going for Jubilee

The year of jubilee has to be one of the most unusual observances that God commanded the Israelites to keep. For most people this celebration occurred only once in their lifetime. It was to be a year of freedom. All Israelites who had sold themselves into slavery were set free, and all land that had been sold reverted to its original owner. This meant that no Israelite could ever be in permanent slavery; nor could any Israelite permanently lose his inheritance. This is the heart of the Father for all of us. His desire is to bless and prosper His people.

But tragically the Israelites missed their blessing! Nowhere in Scripture is there any evidence that they kept the year of jubilee. Ultimately, they lost everything and for seventy years languished in a foreign land as exiles.

In the natural, anticipating a year of jubilee must have been a daunting prospect. You can imagine the complaints: "It’s bad enough to let the land lie absolutely fallow for a year and not reap any crops, or harvest any grapes or anything, but two years in a row? How are we going to eat?" And God says, "That's exactly what I wanted you to ask, because I'm trying to impress a principle upon you.  It isn't the land that supports you; it is I. Every seventh year I want you to experience the fact that I am able to take care of you despite the outward circumstances. It is I upon whom you are dependent, not the land, not your own energy and labor, although that is part of the picture. But that is not from where your well-being arises. It comes from me. And every 50th year I want to restore you and your inheritance. Don’t miss out!

Behind the jubilee year is the whole concept of the Sabbath, which lies at the heart of everything God does. From creation on, God created the Sabbath for times of rest, both for man and for the land. But behind it was a principle. God used the Sabbath to drive home to human hearts an absolutely necessary truth, and that is that we must operate out of rest. Throughout the Scriptures, in the Old and the New Testaments alike, God consistently wants us to know that He wants to work through us -- not apart from us, not with idle hands on our part -- but in our activity to be there, supplying what it takes to get done what is necessary. That is the secret of rest.

The English word jubilee comes from the Hebrew word yobel meaning a trumpet or ram's horn. Trumpets always herald a new beginning. The first day of the seventh month was the Feast of Trumpets every year, and trumpets were sent out to announce the new year, a new beginning. Now in the fiftieth year, on the tenth day of the seventh month was the great Day of Atonement, when the blood of a bull and a goat was offered in the Holy of Holies, and God made atonement for all the people. On that day the trumpet went abroad in the announcement of liberty. This is God's graphic way of teaching us that all liberty arises out of redemption. It arises out of the work of God in human affairs -- cleansing and changing, forgiving, and healing and restoring. If liberty doesn't come from that, it can never be achieved. Liberty is for each person to regain his lost inheritance, and to have his broken relationships restored.

FROM THE BOARD

Psalm 115:1 (N.I.V.)

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.”

It is almost 10 years since I first darkened the door of Singing Waters’ property in Orangeville, Ontario. I do not use the word darkened lightly. You see, at that time, I was harboring dark thoughts about “deliverance ministries” that was being praised and promoted around a group of women in which my dear wife had been participating.

I wanted to rescue her and her friends from it, so I signed up for a weekend course specifically for men only. I intended to then go home, armed with enough evidence to refute everything and so put an end to all this “nonsense”.

Well! Glory to God, man makes his plans, but God has the outcome. On that first weekend I was smitten (convicted, in theological terms). Holy Spirit, (in whom I was already baptized), despite my dark purpose, started me on a journey I had never planned or dreamed of ever being involved in. To His Name be all the glory! He is taking me from glory to glory for His Name’s sake.

Believe it or not, from then on I can’t stay away from Singing Waters. I’ve been on course after course; I have been delivered from the highest levels of freemasonry; I’ve received healing and deliverance from a health condition on the opening night of a school in 1999; Jesus Himself taught me all about intimacy and rest in Him through a song He gave me by Holy Spirit; and I have been extended such compassionate prayer beyond measure, so that I can show compassion to others.

God in His grace has honored me by calling me to constantly intercede for His
ministry at Singing Waters and elsewhere, to see His Kingdom flourish, and to serve on the Board of Directors during and since the period of restoration of the stewardships of His ministry to Singing Waters. What a privilege it is to be a part of all His blessings!

God, our beloved Heavenly Father, has chosen to be “so” present in our midst that “freedom abounds in this place”. Along with so many others of His saints, I have been permitted to exercise His spiritual gifts beyond measure to edify the believers and evangelize the non-believers. Mentoring into praise and worship of His name and hearing Him reveal His heart is another awesome experience.

And so by His grace, I am a new man in Christ; to God be all the glory.

WELLSPRING OF LIFE

I am back to that old familiar theme of “standing” and “resting”.

“Having done all, stand…”

The “New Living” translation says it this way, “Stand your ground…”
It is worth the effort to stop and read Eph. 6:10-18. You may have fresh insight if you use a version that is different than the one you are used to.

It is all too easy for us to repeat these words that have become oh so familiar to us, not stopping to hear afresh the crucial message they convey.

Right now you may be caught up in a mighty struggle, and all you can see are the people involved in causing your hurt and pain. These words in Ephesians 6 are meant to help focus us and expose to us our true enemy.

We are also given the weapons with which to fight this enemy. They are spiritual weapons that vouchsafe to bring us victory.

I am constantly reminded of another mighty weapon of our warfare, the oft forgotten weapon of “rest.”

The Amplified Bible gives this rendition of Isaiah 30:15:
“For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel. In returning to Me and resting in Me you shall be saved. In quietness and in trusting confidence shall be your strength…”
Hebrews 4:1-11 deals with the matter of striving diligently to enter into God’s rest.

Verse 3, “For we who have believed and trusted in God do enter that rest.”

I hear God calling over and over again to come into this place of rest. He waits for us there. I continue to find staying in this place of rest, a greater challenge than any other spiritual discipline.

Let this be the year that we find and stay for longer periods of time in this place of rest in God.

God’s grace attends our progress through 2006. The Holy Spirit stands ready to guide us along this path to find perfect rest in God.

Thanks for your continued prayer support for Singing Waters.

WORSHIP

When I first heard the theme for the year 2006, “ Celebrate Freedom”, it struck me as being a great title for a praise song. In this year of Jubilee, we get to celebrate His Freedom. And how better to do this but in praise and worship!

My thoughts go back to one Friday night at the end of 2005, when we came together in the ‘Touching His Throne’ weekend. You could feel the atmosphere of God’s Presence even before we started the evening. That night we experienced a time of intimacy in worship that I have never tasted before. We often say that ‘we had a great time of worship’ or ‘we touched Heaven that night’. But often it really is just a glimpse.

This night we went through the veil of time and were overwhelmed by His Sovereign Presence. It was a time where everything came to a halt, and we were completely swept away by His Grace.

Words cannot describe but one thing I believe: this was a foretaste of things to come in His year of Jubilee!

I sure am looking forward to that!
